Consider Exhibit A. Jason Todd aka Robin II who died in 1988 at the hands of editorial stunt driving a beating by the Joker followed by an explosion and then a fan phone in to kill him off.  It’s okay, he got better.  He still has a case in the BatCave, despite being considerably less than dead.  Admittedly, it did take 15 years for him to come back from the dead so Bruce may have had some problems letting go of the Cave’s softest landing spot.

Consider Exhibit B. Stephanie Brown aka RobinIV who died in 2004 at the hand of editorial mandated crossover blood pacts torture, being shot, power drill torture and then being denied medical treatment in a retconned to oblivion error in editorial judgement.  Currently, still dead, lacks a case in the cave, and HOLY BATCAMEO. C’mon Steph! BAT THAT DEAD2ALIVE ROBIN RECORD RIGHT OUT OF THE PARK! Redhood took 15 years to comeback.  Can Steph turn it around in FIVE? I think so.  I’m saying so.

Oh, and if Steph does make a return, it wouldn’t just happen to be that she has a passionate and active fanbase that caught DC’s attention, would it?

(PS: Still say she deserves a case, especially if she was dead and got better.  Jason got better, and Batman didn’t think that changed anything about the MEMORIAL TO A VERY ALIVE DEAD ROBIN).  Or, y’know, they turf the case out and put in a trampoline or a highjumpmat or something for them to fall on instead of smashing the bloody case every dozen issues or so…)

(PPS: If she never died, can we spared a Batmarysue moment if Steph asks about the case? Something other than Batman saying “I knew you were alive” would be cool.  He’s Batman, not Dan DiDio, he’s not the God of DCU. Bruce isn’t the messiah, he’s just a very broody boy)
